The Beast and Barrel is our restaurant which has carved a niche in the region. It’s celebrated for its stylish and relaxed atmosphere. The menu offers a gastronomical feast. Our signature steak dishes come from some of Australia’s largest beef producers located right here in the heart of cattle country. It is an unforgettable experience.

The Cellar Bar
The Cellar bar is located at the front of the hotel and earned its name from the exposed underground cellar which has a glass floor on it.
We have numerous beers on tap including craft beers. We are known for our cocktails and our mixologists know their stuff and make them from scratch.
The Back Bar
The go to as soon as work finishes. It’s the place to clock off enjoy some food for booze and unwind and see where the night takes you.
The Parlour
The Parlor is a private room. Elegant and stately it houses a long old fashioned dinning table which can seat from 5-20.
Perfect for dinner with friends or family just because or for that special occasion.
The room includes a large screen with complete corporate audio facilities.
Gaming
Located at the back of the Rix hotel, our gaming room is unlike any other in Charters Towers.
25 of the latest and greatest gaming machines, featuring all the favourites like lighting links and dragon links and Kraken unleashed.
Complimentary tea, coffee, and free soft drinks. Friendly attendants to help you with all your gaming needs.
Join us 6 days a week from 10am – 2am. Sunday open time is 11am – 2am.
In addition to the gaming room, there is also Keno facilities located in the cellar bar and the Keno bar.

QHA Award Winners
A little pub in Charters Towers is carving a name for itself winning MULTIPLE awards at the Queensland Hotel Association Awards of Excellence.
In the 2022 QHA Awards, The Rix Hotel took out Best Hotel Bar - Regional, while its restaurant, The Beast & Barrel, picked up Best Restaurant - Regional in the state of Queensland.
The following year In 2023, the Rix took home the award for Overall Regional Hotel of the Year - Regional, with the bar and restaurant being repeat winners, taking home Best Hotel Bar and Best Restaurant in the regional category for a second year running.
